Job Title : Assessment Officer (Maternity Cover)

 

Location:              Newarthill Credit Union Ltd, 111-113 High Street, Newarthill, Motherwell ML1 5JH

Hours:                   Full-time 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday

 

Newarthill Credit Union is a financial co-operative that is owned and controlled by its members.  We are a not-for-profit organisation, with an objective to promote financial well-being through responsible lending and encouraging savings. 

 As an Assessment Officer, you will play a critical role in building trust relationships, member loyalty and satisfaction throughout and participate in offering the credit union benefits and assist members in managing their accounts.   

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

 

·         Assess member applications and verify new accounts

·         Process card payments

·         Assess withdrawal applications

·         Evaluate credit worthiness and process loan applications within specified limits

·         Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans

·         Complete loan contracts and advise members on policies and restrictions

·         Justify decisions (approvals/rejections) to members

·         Update deposit and lending procedures

·         Operate in compliance with laws and regulations and adhere to all area’s compliance and guidelines

·         Scan and file documents

·         Answer phone calls and voicemails

·         Deal with incoming correspondence via post, email, website and app

·         Deal with member queries in a polite and professional manner

·         Maintain and update members’ personal and financial details

·         Prepare monthly report for Deposits & Lending Area for the board of directors

·         Ensure all members’, staff, volunteers’ and directors’ privacy is respected at all times

·         Communicate with colleagues through Teams

·         Complete allocated training

·         Completing other tasks or projects that are relevant to your role or skill set

 

Essential Skills:

 

·         Proven experience of providing high quality customer service

·         Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with members

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         Excellent numeracy skills with meticulous attention to detail

·         Ability to prioritise and organise own workload

·         Ability to work well in a team and through using own initiative

·         Demonstrate IT skills to a proficient level on various Microsoft packages

 

Desirable Skills:

 

·         Experience working within the financial services sector

·         Working knowledge of the credit union environment
